| 内容記述 | "Chour yakuninen-Kugatsu-Jusannichi Gendainagonke Utaawase" and "Chouryakuninen-Fuyu Gendainagonke Utaawase" were two utaawase（ waka poetry competitions）, both held in 1038 at the homestead of Minamotono Morofusa. These two Gendainagonke Utaawase were recorded in Volume 13 of "Nijukanbon Ruijuu Utaawase" （Ruijuu Utaawase in 20 volumes）. Unfortunately, the original manuscripts of the two Gendainagonke Utaawase recorded in Ruijuu Utaawase have been missing for a long time, and the only extant copies are transcripts of the original manuscripts or descendants of there. Until recently material on the two Gendainagonke Utaawase has been limited to search records made at the time when the original manuscripts which had not yet been lost of the two Gendainagonke Utaawase were designated as National Treasures in 1936, partial photographs of the original manuscripts owned by the Cultural Properties Protection Committee, and transcripts. Due to the limitations of the available materials, uncertainties regarding the two Gendainagonke Utaawase were inevitable. Scholars had long hoped for the original manuscripts to come to light. This thesis is based on an examination of the original two Gendainagonke Utaawase recorded in Ruijuu Utaawase, to which the other was granted access. Examination of the original manuscripts enabled uncertainties in the search records and transcripts to be solved. It truly can be said that the original manuscripts have a great value as materials for the study of Japanese literature. The original manuscripts are not simply valuable materials for the study of Japanese literature, these are valuable cultural properties in their own right as well. Dating back to the Heian period, they are priceless works of ancient art and have been designated as Important Cultural Properties. It is unlikely that these manuscripts will be placed again in public view. In view of this and in order to more fully assist researchers in Japanese literature, the owner of the manuscripts has kindly permitted a photographic reproduction of the entire text of the manuscripts to be published in this thesis. |
